What is the OVC Health Sciences Centre Referring Veterinarian Portal?
The portal will replace our elective referral request form process and facilitate online access to select information from your patient’s medical records, including appointments, diagnostic results, and clinical summaries. The portal will also act as a one-stop-shop for you to submit elective referral requests and attach relevant medical record information including diagnostic images. If you have referred a patient to us within the last 2 years, you will have received an email with your log in and temporary password.
How do I make an Emergency Referral?
Please call us to discuss your patient and arrange a possible referral. If we are unable to accept a patient due to capacity or our operational status, we are available to provide advice.
How can I access the portal?
Using the credentials provided in the initial welcome email, you may access the portal at any time via the OVC Health Sciences Centre website portal log in. Once a referral has been submitted via the portal and the patient admitted to the OVC HSC, you will receive notifications via email with a direct link to the portal.
What if I don’t have or remember my log in credentials?
If you have referred a patient to us in the last 2 years, your log in ID and password was emailed to you when the portal was first launched in May 2023. If you cannot locate the email click “Username Help?” in the login dialogue box.
How can I submit Diagnostic Imaging via the portal?
Radiographs (5 images or less)
- Individual JPEG and DICOM images may be uploaded to the submission. The images must not exceed 400MB.
Radiographs (more than 5 images), MRI, CT and Ultrasound Images
- Copy link from your PACs system or file share in the field titled Diagnostic Imaging – PACs share link/URL (copy/paste link) under “Referral Details” on the referral submission.
Images on a disc or USB key
- Send the images along with the client when they come for their scheduled appointment.
Can I view diagnostic results while my patient is hospitalized?
Yes. The portal will update as results are reported into our medical record system. Please note that these results may be interim.
Will I be notified when my patient has been discharged?
We will make every effort to inform you of your patient’s status in a timely manner.
Can I manage what notifications I receive?
Yes. Once logged into the portal you can access your account settings to manage your email notifications.
Why can’t I find records for a previous patient?
For patients where you are registered in our system as the referring veterinarian, you will have access to select medical record information for 6 months from when the information was added to the portal.
