Welcome to Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre. Animals are very important to us, as is their care.
As a part of the University of Guelph, we strive to provide the best possible client service and veterinary care to over 16,000 companion animals, horses, and farm animals seen annually.
The OVC HSC is comprised of 3 veterinary hospitals accredited by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario “CVO”:
- OVC Companion Animal Hospital – Referral hospital for companion animals (dogs, cats)
- OVC Large Animal Hospital – Referral hospital for large animals (horses, cows, goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, pigs) including the Ruminant Field Service clinic which provides ambulatory care for farm animals
- OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital – Primary veterinary care for companion animals (patients are referred to the Companion Animal Hospital for specialty care and for after-hours emergency care)
Using a team-based approach, our many dedicated and specialized veterinary professionals and technical staff are equipped to provide leading edge animal care using extensive and advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

AAHA Accreditation
The American Animal Hospital Association is an organization that accredits Companion Animal Hospitals in Canada and the United States. The OVC HSC has voluntarily chosen to be evaluated for over 900 standards of medical care and client service.
Our Companion Animal Hospital and Smith Lane Animal Hospital choose to be accredited by AAHA to assure our clients that they are receiving the highest quality of veterinary care for their pets.
