Student veterinarians in their final year of training will be involved in the careĀ of your pet under the direct supervision of veterinarians and technicians. Similar to your family veterinarian, veterinary interns and residents are graduates of a veterinary college and hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. They are licensed veterinarians who are pursuing advanced training. Interns are veterinarians who are pursuing an additional year of training to apply for specialty residency positions or who wish to advance their skills as primary care veterinarians. Residents are veterinarians who have completed at least one internship and who are pursuing specialization and board-certification. During your visit you may not always meet the supervising specialist but they are involved with every step of your pet’s care.
